Mentorship Information Day: Guiding The Journey Of Personal And Career Development

On the evening of September 16, 2026, at Auditorium A403, the FBA Mentoring Club under the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), successfully organized the Mentorship Information Day: Guiding the Journey of Personal and Career Development.

The event aimed to provide students with a clearer understanding of the Mentoring model, equip them with effective approaches to connecting and working with Mentors, and encourage them to develop independence and gain clearer direction for their future career paths.

The event was attended by Dr. Phung Minh Tuan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, representing FBA.

The program also welcomed guest speaker Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City Regional Recruitment Manager.

In addition, the event was honored to welcome back Mentors who had accompanied the program in previous seasons, including:

• MSc. Nguyen Van Trong – Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Hoa Hiep Construction Investment and Real Estate Joint Stock Company;

• Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong – Director of Hoi Viet Anh Foreign Language Company Limited.

Representing the FBA Mentoring Club was Mr. Vo Cao Thang, Club Advisor and Assistant to the General Director in charge of Marketing at Monova Food Ingredients Joint Stock Company.

Encouraging Students to Take the Initiative in Their Mentoring Journey

Opening the program, Dr. Phung Minh Tuan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, delivered remarks and shared meaningful messages with students. He encouraged students to actively participate in the program, make the most of opportunities to connect with Mentors, learn from real-world experiences, and confidently seek suitable guidance throughout their academic journey, career planning, and personal development.

In his sharing session, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh emphasized the role of Mentorship in students’ academic journeys, career orientation, and personal development. According to him, while young people possess capabilities, energy, and aspirations, having the right person to accompany them can help them gain a clearer sense of direction, learn from real-world experiences, and gain access to additional opportunities for growth.

The speaker also highlighted that a Mentor is not someone who makes decisions or acts on behalf of the Mentee, but rather someone who asks thought-provoking questions, helps identify blind spots, and encourages action. Ultimately, the Mentee remains the person who actively makes choices and takes responsibility for their own journey—so that those who are guided today may become mentors and guides for others in the future.

Through the session, students gained a deeper understanding of how the Mentoring model operates, as well as the roles and responsibilities of each participant. Representatives of the FBA Mentoring Club introduced the program’s roadmap and provided guidance on how students can set personal goals that align with their future career aspirations.

In addition, through sharing sessions by Mentees from previous seasons, students had the opportunity to gain practical insights into how the Mentoring journey unfolds—from connecting with Mentors and discussing personal and career goals to experiencing the changes and values gained throughout the mentoring process. These first-hand experiences helped students gain a more concrete understanding of the Mentor’s role while highlighting the importance of initiative, openness, and commitment on the part of Mentees throughout the Mentoring journey.

One of the highlights of the event was the direct interaction between students and the speaker, focusing on the role of Mentors, how to identify suitable directions, and the importance of Mentee initiative in personal development. Through the Q&A session, students gained practical perspectives that will help them better understand and make effective use of the Mentoring relationship.

The Mentorship Information Day concluded successfully, marking the beginning of the Mentor–Mentee selection and matching process for the new academic year. Through this initiative, the FBA Mentoring Club continues to strengthen its role as a bridge connecting students with alumni and former students of the Faculty of Business Administration, TDTU.
