Tourism is one of the sectors that have contributed greatly to GDP growth and the development of the country's economy. Recently, hotel-restaurant businesses in have played an important role in the development of the tourism industry. In Vietnam, every year, the tourism industry creates an additional 15,000 - 20,000 jobs directly in hotels, restaurants and tourism service facilities. Tourism industry is flourishing with a growing number of tourists to Vietnam, demand and usage rates of accommodation services are also escalating leading to the formation and development of many accommodation service businesses.
Carefully observe and examine customer reviews on the quality of service of the hotel is extremely necessary to timely identify the weaknesses and opportunities of service, from facilities, comfortability, quality of staff, additional services, experience to effectively figure solutions to improve and satisfy customer needs thus increasing financial and service level performance of businesses.
Therefore, to help students whose major is Hospitality Management meet the working standards and requirements, the faculty emphasizes on effective teaching style with a combination between theories and practices. On April 22, Ms. Vu Hong Nhung, a lecturer from Department of Hospitality Management had a sharing session with faculty members to propose some initiatives to improve the efficiency in teaching and learning of students,more specifically for Housekeeping Operation classes.
According to Ms. Nhung, if skills are necessary elements, professionalism and service courtesy are also decisive factors. Service provided needs to be perfect in all aspects and accommodating the needs of customers to ensure the highest level of satisfaction. The sympathy, affection, kindness, honesty particularly make guests feel that they are important and welcomed. Hence, in designing lessons, focusing on professional practice skills, increasing practice time and training for students are very critical. Besides, students also need to improve their English and other soft skills.
