CMO VII: The Journey of Young Talented Marketers

After 4 months since its departure, the journey to find young talented Marketers - Chief Marketing Officer Season VII (CMO VII) has come to an end with the finale taking place at 5:30 pm on April 28, 2021, at Hall 6B, Ton Duc Thang University.

First organized in 2015, up to now, CMO has been through 7 seasons. This is an annual contest for economics students, especially those with the major of Marketing, organized by the BAC - Marketing Club of  Faculty of Business Administration, Ton Duc Thang University. The contest has attracted attention and participation of students from peer universities around Ho Chi Minh City.

The finale was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dang Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tuong Nguyen Environmental Services Trading Joint Stock Company and Ms. Vo Dinh Ai Ngoc, Account Manager, URC Viet Nam Company.

The board of judges included “big names” in business and marketing in Vietnamese market:

  • Mr. Tra Quoc Kiet - Member of the Board of Directors, Tuong Nguyen Environmental Services Trading Joint Stock Company - Representative of the main sponsor of this year's competition;
  • Mr. Ta Duy Dung - Channel Partnership Manager, TIKTOK Vietnam;
  • Mrs. Pham Minh Nguyet - Chief Marketing Officer, Propzy Vietnam Company Limited;
  • Mrs. Pham Huynh Phuong Trang - Head of Digital Communication, Suntory Pepsico; Vietnam Beverage Company;
  • Dr. Le Minh Phu - Associate Customer Development Director, Johnson & Johnson Vietnam.

From the Faculty of  Business Administration, Ton Duc Thang University, the finale of CMO VII warmly welcomed:

  • Dr. Phung Minh Tuan - Head of Marketing Department, Ton Duc Thang University
  • Mr. Le Duc Nha - Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Ton Duc Thang University

About 500 students came to support the contestants and cheered up their performances. The audiences are not only from Ton Duc Thang University but also from universities in Ho Chi Minh City such as University of Food Industry, University of Economics - Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.

The finale started with the presentation of the Marketing project: "Building Marketing Communication Plan for Cuu Long Micro Fertilizer product line in 2022 with the budget of 500 million" and debates between teams. Next, each team randomly picked a question on specialized Marketing knowledge and a situational question given by judges.

 

After nearly 4 hours, the titles of CMO have finally found their worthy owners:

  • First Prize: Double A - Ton Duc Thang University
  • Second Prize: Creabeaners - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics
  • Third prize: Shark Gentleman Plus - University of Food Industry and University of Economics - Finance
  • Consolation prizes: F-Lights - Ton Duc Thang University (Nha Trang Campus) and POP - University of Food Industry

Chief Marketing Officer Season VII closed with many memorable events from the opening rounds to business tours and the finale. CMO VII not only provided participants with marketing knowledge and teamwork spirit but also opportunities to nurture and liberate new ideas. Hopefully, the contestants can retain their enthusiasm and confidence to get closer to the title of Marketing Director in their career. "When one door closes, another opens". Let us look forward to a new CMO season in the future.
