Dr. Tran Trong Dao – the Acting President of Ton Duc Thang University

On April 27, 2021, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour had a decision to recognize Dr. Tran Trong Dao, who is a member of the University Council for the term 2021-2026 and the former Vice President during the term 2014-2019, as the Acting President of Ton Duc Thang University.

Previously, the University Council of Ton Duc Thang University held a conference to elect the Acting President. Dr. Tran Trong Dao was elected with 15 votes in agreement out of 15 University Council members attending the meeting (100%).

Immediately after its establishment on April 3, 2021, the University Council of Ton Duc Thang University together with the University Party Committee quickly carried out works to stabilize the University’s operations, including completing and promulgating the regulations on the organization and operation of the University; and carried out the procedures to decide on University leadership personnel in accordance with the actual situation under the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

• Dr. Tran Trong Dao was born in 1981 in Quang Ngai.
• Qualification: Ph.D., majoring in Control Engineering.
• Dr. Tran Trong Dao completed Undergraduate, Master’s and Doctoral programs in the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia). He graduated with a doctorate in Control Engineering in 2009.
• Before being elected as the Acting President of Ton Duc Thang University, Dr. Tran Trong Dao was in charge of following duties, including Lecturer of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (predecessor of the Faculty of Information Technology); Deputy Head of the Department of Undergraduate Studies; Head of the Department of Science & Technology, Cooperation and Postgraduate; Director of the International Cooperation, Research and Training Institute; Director of the International Cooperation and Research for Development Institute; and Vice President of Ton Duc Thang University for the term 2014-2019.

From August 2020, he was assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to manage and operate Ton Duc Thang University during the time when the University consolidated the University Council and the Presidential Board.
