Session 1: The decision making under uncertainty

On Saturday afternoon, September 11, 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration held a virtual academic meeting with the participation of lecturers and postgraduate students. Particularly, Dr. Tran Trong Thuy presented methods and strategies for decision-making under uncertain situations. Currently, the context of the world economy is severely affected by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, making decisions in uncertain situations is a great interesting topic for scholars and practitioners. Based on the research models, Dr. Tran Trong Thuy proposed that to make the most appropriate decisions in the context of economic instability, it is necessary for managers to clearly define the plan with the highest compensation value. Based on his experiences, Dr. Thuy also shared the practical applications of scientific research in brand positioning, consulting, and proposing enterprises’ business strategies.

After concluding the presentation, the lecturers and postgraduate students discussed the applicability of this research direction in business administration. The discussion pointed out the difficulties in making decisions in the context of Vietnam due to the lack of input data.

The meeting ended in a lively and positive discussion atmosphere. This activity was also an opportunity for young lecturers and postgraduate students to accumulate specific knowledge and improve their scientific research skills.

Session 2: Performance evaluation.

On Saturday afternoon, September 25, 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration held an academic meeting through an online platform with lecturers, postgraduate students, and graduate students.

Dr. Le Minh Hieu presents an interesting method to evaluate the performance of firms and organizations. Particularly,  DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) is a very effective method, has combined assessment of the relative efficiency of the units and predicted the future FP of the study subjects. Accordingly, the DEA method could be applied in various fields such as financial performance, operational performance, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilities),…

Besides, Dr. Hieu also shared his experiences to publish the research articles in reputed journals by applying DEA. More specifically, the appropriate applied-DEA can further extend the current literature to explore the new findings and explain new phenomenons. However, Dr. Hieu also mentioned the advantages and disadvantages of this method to interested researchers. To conclude his sharing, Dr. Hieu stated the importance of data when applying DEA and suggested well-known sources to collect data.

After concluding the presentation, the lecturers and postgraduate students discussed the applicability of this research direction in business administration. The meeting ended in a lively and positive discussion atmosphere. This activity was also an opportunity for young lecturers and postgraduate students to accumulate specific knowledge and improve their scientific research skills.
