On Monday, November 21, 2022, the Faculty of Business Administration held the online November Journal Club with the participation of the faculty's leadership and faculty. In this activity, Dr. Le Minh Hieu presented a research paper titled “Nonlinear impact of ESG (environmental, social, control) on performance of energy companies”
The expansion of industrial production in the 21st century has led to many serious environmental and social problems. According to the United Nations Climate Conference's Emissions Gap Report 2021 (UNEP, 2021), atmospheric concentrations of all major greenhouse gases continue to increase, carbon dioxide concentrations have reached high levels.
The use of unidirectional financial ratios may not accurately reflect a company's performance. Therefore, previous studies have suggested using data envelope analysis (DEA) when estimating the performance of companies. The results of the study demonstrate the impact of ESG on energy company performance. The team's findings indicate that ESG is non-linearly related to the performance of energy companies.
After finishing the presentation, the lecturers of the Faculty of Business Administration spent time discussing the issues surrounding the topic.
