In the morning of 22nd June, 2023, The Faculty warmly welcomes the visit of The Sumitomo Foundation (Japan) to promote the Research Grant Program in 2023.
Participating the discussion, we welcome the attendance of Faculty's lecturers and members of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Continuing the successful engagement of the Faculty's 2 granted projects in 2018 and 2021, the purpose of this meeting is to enhance the understanding about the Sumitomo Foundation as well as experience in applying to the funding in general.
The Sumitomo Foundation is a non-profit grant-making organization, established on September 25, 1991 by 20 companies of the Sumitomo Group. The purpose of the Foundation is to contribute to the betterment of human society. To this end, Grants for Japan-related research projects aim at enhancing the mutual understanding between Asian countries and Japan through promoting research projects in the field of the social sciences or humanities that are related to Japan.
Representing The Sumitomo Foundation, Mr. Kenichi Hamaya, the Program Officer, brought a very insightful sharing session to promote for program in FY2023, especially the procedure and the selection criteria. Starting from FY2023, applicants are able to apply online. He also took this chance to share insights on previously awarded from Vietnam and in the East and South Asian regions for lecturers to have more information on the competition and tips to be granted.
