Ton Duc Thang University is ranked 101 – 200 in overall 2019 THE University Impact Rankings

At 22.00 local time in Vietnam, on April 3rd, 2019, according to the announcement from THE (Times Higher Education) University Impact Rankings, THE’s pioneering initiative to recognise universities across the world for their social and economic impact, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is ranked 101 – 200 in 2019 THE University Impact Rankings. For the global Sustainable Development Goal rakings, TDTU is ranked 48-58 in Quality Education, and 60-70 in Sustanable Cities and Communities, Partnership for the Goals, and Climate Action.

THE University Impact Rankings is a ranking framework which aims to measure the success of higher education institutions in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) according to the United Nations standards. THE University Impact Rankings consists of 11 SDGs criteria (out of 17 SDGs defined by the United Nations). They are:

SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing;

SDG 4: Quality Education;

SDG 5: Gender Equality;

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth;

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure;

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities;

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities;

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and production;

SDG 13: Climate Action;

SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions;

SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals;...

The requirement for a university to be able to participate in this Rankings is to be accredited and recognized by International Accreditation Organizations (accredited by a recognized accreditation body).

In the ranking of 2019, THE University Impact Rankings list, there are 462 participations of universities. Japanese universities are most involved with 42 universities. Next is the universities of the US, Russia and the UK, respectively 30, 29 and 26 universities. Data collected from universities is appraised by THE together with data from each university from the Elsevier Database (Scopus) to decide the rankings.

Leading the rankings list of 2019 are the universities from Auckland in New Zealand; British Columbia in Canada; Mc Master University in Canada (a partner university of TDTU); University of Manchester in the UK; University of Hongkong; University of Helsinki in Finland. These are universities over 100 years old, and always in the top 100 best universities in the world, and almost in the world university rankings.

IIn Group 101-200 with TDTU are universities: University of Malaya (Malaysia), University of Massachusetts (United States), Osaka University and Hokkaido University (Japan), KAIST (Korea), Lomonosov (Russia), ect. This can be seen that the influence of TDTU on the sustainable socio-economic development of the world is now on par with the world's strong and old universities.

TDTU position in the rankings show that TDTU has committed and basically implemented the goals successfully, "For human development in a peaceful and happy world", created a serious, harmonious and modern working, teaching and learning environment, and focused on sustainable development and contribute more and more excellently to the stable and long-term development of Vietnam and the world.

TDTU is also the first and only university in Vietnam ranked 4 out of 5 stars in QS Stars Ratings. TDTU is ranked 2nd in Vietnam, 1,422nd in the world for academic achievement according to URAP, and 182nd in the world for sustainable development under the GreenMetric UI. Most recently, TDTU entered the Top 25 ASEAN Region universities and institutions according to the statistics of Web of Science (ISI).
