On the morning of November 7th, 2020, with the support from the Faculty of Business Administration, BAC- International Business successfully organized the workshop entitled “ Career Orientation Opportunities And Planning for Self-Development“. This workshop is among a series of events to create optimal conditions for freshmen major in International Business to learn more about the professional working environment of companies from a range of sectors. Hence, they can have more chances to advance themselves professionally to become potential candidates and be well-prepared for career opportunities in the future.
The workshop took place with the presence of delegates from reputable companies as :
- Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Tuấn – Founder of Việt Á Law Company, Vòm Việt Event Company; Vice President of Đồng Nai Imp-Export and Accounting company;
- Mr. Thái Kim Sơn – General Director of Nam Dương International Food Corporation;
- Mr. Võ Thanh Lộc – CEO, Farmers’ Market;
- Ms. Nguyễn Thu Giang – Brand Manager, Unilever Vietnam;
- Ms. Huỳnh Như Nguyệt – CEO, Vietnam Aviation & Logistics School;
And with the presence of more than 300 freshmen major in International Business.
One of the biggest challenges of Economic sectors in general and International Business, Logistics and Import-Export Business, etc, in particular is the limit of the quality of human resource, whereas the labour force is abundant. The question is what are the opportunities for the students major in International Business? What are the companies looking for in an employee, especially the Gen Z employees - the young generation of desire and vision ?
In the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Phạm Thị Ngân shared about the concerns and the orientation of developing that the department of International Business is aiming at, both in studies and preparation for the crucial skills that make the students more qualified in the employers’ eyes.
Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Tuấn said that International Business is the sector which has high development potential. The students not only have to acquire comprehensive knowledge but they also need to know how to set their goals, cultivate their skills, attitudes, especially self-study ability and the habit of reading.
Mr. Thái Kim Sơn shared his story and the secret of success of Nam Dương – a Vietnamese brand that has been well-established in the market for more than 50 years. With a great passion for the FMCG sector, agribusiness to be more precisely, he inspired the students to choose a field to have a long attachment. In addition, from the perspective of the employer, he emphasized the necessity to enhance awareness, to experience and have high sense of responsibility to finish the assigned work well, which the students could prepare at university.
Mr. Võ Thanh Lộc shared more about starting his own businesses and E-Commerce. With the story of Farmers’ Market, that he shared his experience in the journey to start out his own business motivate the students toward their goals. In addition, the story of Farmers’ Market’s flexibility and how they sufficently utilize the business opportunities from the E-commerce sites to turn challenges into chances once again show the importance of inquiring mind and initiative.
Last but not least is Ms. Nguyễn Thu Giang,a petite woman with aspiration and vision, delivering her message and her key to find our own passion. With her story daring to dream, daring to do, daring to launch out into a professional but challenging environment as Unilever, she believed that whether we work at Vietnamese companies or foreign companies, skills and attitudes are the prerequisites of our success. Therefore, as the students, you need to improve the knowledge and skills needed to maximize your ability.
After this workshop, BAC believed that the freshmen have become more confident with their choices and be all set to make plan for days to come to be outstanding employees in the future.
