Hospitality Management students: A Training Day At GEM Center

On the 1st of April 2019, third-year students, studying M.I.C.E Management subject, had an opportunity to attend a 1-day training at GEM Center, an event conference center, (District 1 - Ho Chi Minh City). Lecturers and students made a very good impression with professional behaviour and a positive attitude to learning.
At GEM Center, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hieu, Leader of Administration&Human Resources, introduced students about PQC Hospitality Corporation and GEM Center. In addition, Mr. Tran Quoc Hoan - Deputy Manager of F&B department also presented to students the technicality at F&B department to provide customers the best customer service experience. With the love and passion  for the work and the company, Mr. Hoan and Ms. Hieu helped us understand more about GEM Center's establishment, development, its business and management structure, culture, operational orientation and human resources management. More importantly, they shared with us the most 4 important factors in customer care at GEM that every employee possess: attitude, knowledge of product and service offered, expertise and the willingness to go extra for customers. Besides, in this morning, Mr. Hoan also introduced us about the banquet halls and enthusiastically answered our questions regarding problem-solving skills i.e when guests are not satisfied and additional skills needed to improve for self-development and self-recognition.
After learning the general knowledge, our group enjoyed an delicious lunch at the staff cafeteria as a official employees at GEM. Continuing this exciting experience, we were able to visit and listen to the supervisors introducing GEM Cafe and the meaning behind the decoration theme of carp lanterns which are luck and prosperity. Furthermore, we learnt about the size, decoration of the different lobbies such as Pollux (with 2 VIP lounges), Castor, Era, Saltus, Papyrus, Sol, Apus, Zino, Lungo, Vino and The Log restaurant – the special restaurant, on the top floor of the center where buffer and A la carte can be served at the same time (serving according to orders). At the end of the visit, we were able to see clearly the professionalism and the creativity of GEM in designing the banquet halls with different concepts such as the dome, combining many patterns, the library, the wall covered with green trees or in the freestyle way of locating bulbs that feels like the starry sky in GEM Cafe, or like the piece of music in the Sol hall. In addition, we were also impressed with the preparation of fully modern equipment, first-class facilities such as flexible ceilings, specialized lift ladders to best meet requirements of customers.

One-day training at GEM Center has helped third-year students consolidate their knowledge as well as develop additional specialized skills, enrich their experiences and have a better insight of their future careers.
