On Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration held an academic meeting through an online platform with Prof. Pham Thi Minh Ly, lecturers, postgraduate students, and graduate students. Dr. Pham Tien Thanh shared about the research orientation related to the critical effects of the pandemic on the economic status of street vendors, specifically migrant women, and offered policy implications to overcome economic vulnerabilities.
Applying economic principles combined with psychological analysis, an analytical framework has been developed and researched specifically. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was also presented and explained, as well as emphasized its relevance to the nature of the study and the sample characteristics. The final results indicate that the women migrant street vendors are significantly affected by Covid-19 due to the lack sufficient supports from the government. The research has high applicability in Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City in the current state of the prolonged epidemic.
Ending the topic, all the participants discussed in detail about the policies in long-term as well as short-term to gather street vendors to better adapt and be more flexible in the context of the pandemic; finally ensuring sustainable development goals until 2030.
