Ton Duc Thang University, established on September 24, 1997, is a young university that has achieved remarkable success in education, scientific research, and extracurricular activities. The university has been highly regarded by prestigious ranking organizations both domestically and internationally. These achievements have been made possible through the leadership, attention, and support of the university's governing body—the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor—along with the HCMC Party Committee, the Party Committee of the University and College Bloc in HCMC, and, notably, the decisive and correct leadership of the university's Party Committee.
The Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University currently comprises 18 affiliated party cells. Among them, the Economic and Social Block 1 Party Cell oversees five faculties: the Faculty of Business Administration, Finance and Banking, Accounting, Law, and Labor and Trade Union Studies. The cell is led by Comrade Pham Thi Minh Ly, a standing member of the Party Committee, Chairperson of the School's Inspection Committee, Vice Chair of the School Council, and Head of the Faculty of Business Administration, who serves as the Party Cell Secretary. The Deputy Secretary is Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Chairperson of the School's Trade Union and Head of the Faculty of Labor and Trade Union Studies, while Comrade Le Bao Thy, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, serves as a member of the Party Cell Executive Committee.
The Economic and Social Block 1 Party Cell leads and directs its affiliated faculties in various professional tasks, including education, scientific research, student activities, and other initiatives. Notably, in implementing the "Smart Mobilization" model according to the Party Committee’s Plan No. 24-KH/ĐU, dated June 3, 2024, which outlines activities to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the Party's traditional work in mass mobilization (October 15, 1930 – October 15, 2024), the Economic and Social Block 1 Party Cell awarded scholarships to students from its five affiliated units who have overcome difficult circumstances through their efforts in academic studies and personal development.
As a result, 93 Party members and staff contributed a total of 40,000,000 VND, and eight students were selected to receive these scholarships. The recipients are:
- Trần Hồng Quân (Student ID: 72300057) and Lê Diễm Kiều (Student ID: 72300036) from the Faculty of Business Administration
- Lê Cao Việt Hà (Student ID: B2100430) and Nguyễn Thị Thanh Hiền (Student ID: B2100437) from the Faculty of Finance and Banking
- Hoàng Ngọc Diễm Phúc (Student ID: E20H0274) and Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Linh (Student ID: E20H0359) from the Faculty of Law
- Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Hoa (Student ID: 22200068) from the Faculty of Accounting
- Hồ Thị Ngọc Mỹ (Student ID: A2200016) from the Faculty of Labor and Trade Union Studies.
On the occasion of meeting students at the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, the Party Cell, in collaboration with the faculties, organized the scholarship award ceremony for the eight selected students.
The Party Cell chose to implement the scholarship program for students facing difficult circumstances who have shown dedication to their studies and personal development as a way to spread the spirit of mutual support and compassion, reflecting the Vietnamese tradition of "the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves." The faculty at Ton Duc Thang University always cares for, supports, and shares with students, especially those with challenging circumstances during their time at the university. It is hoped that these scholarships will help ease some of the students' financial burdens and encourage them to strive even harder to achieve good results in their studies and personal growth. Students, particularly those facing difficulties, should remain confident that, beyond teaching, conducting research, and fulfilling other duties, the faculty members of the various faculties, as well as the Economic and Social Block 1 Party Cell, are always concerned about and ready to support you, helping you overcome challenges in both your studies and your life.
