On October 14, 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration, Ton Duc Thang University organized an online talk show with the topic on "Behaviour for a civilizing cyberspace” to help students understand and have better conduct for a safe and civilized social space.
The program welcomed the participation of Dr. Do Anh Duc - Head of Multimedia Department - Institute of Journalism and Communication - Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The talk show revolved around contemporary issues on social networks today such as: fake information, scams via social networks, personal attacks, and inappropriate language use. With many years of experience in the field of communication, Dr. Do Anh Duc has shared useful information to help students gain more knowledge and lessons about behavioral culture on the internet in general and social networks like Facebook, Zalo, Instagram, and Tiktok in particular. Moreover, he provided some tips on using social networks for example tact, respect and do not disturb others; do not share much about your personal life.
In addition, the speaker also mentioned the alarming reality on the social network Facebook, the fact that some participants did not know the information but hastily shared about their personal pages, using inappropriate words or for the opponent in virtual space, etc. He recommended that users should choose the right information sources, look at the problem in a multi-dimensional way, do not rush to judge then share, do not make up the content and over-react.
Attending the talk show, students had the opportunity to share their concerns, questions as well as dilemmas when participating in social networks and received enthusiastic answers from the speaker. The session helps the students re-evaluate their own experience of using social networks and be reminded that always keep your cool when handling social networks activities as well as control the language and behaviors for a more civilized cyberspace culture.
