Teaching Demonstration Contest “Igniting the Flame of Knowledge” and the Workshop “Sharing Teaching Experiences and Methods” of the Faculty of Business Administration

As part of the series of practical activities celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Faculty of Business Administration (2006–2026), the teaching demonstration contest entitled “Igniting the Flame of Knowledge” was officially launched on November 10, 2025. The spirit of the contest quickly spread among both full-time and adjunct lecturers across departments. Ten highly experienced lecturers—well regarded by their colleagues and highly appreciated by students—were nominated by the departments to participate in the contest.
Associate Professor Dr. Phạm Thị Minh Lý, Vice Chairwoman of the University Council, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, and Head of the Contest Steering Committee, emphasized that “the Faculty of Business Administration has always regarded teaching as one of the strategic missions of the University in general and of the Faculty in particular.” Accordingly, the Faculty initiated the contest to honor exemplary lecturers who have made significant contributions to teaching activities, while also promoting innovation in teaching methods among all faculty members.

After more than one month of implementation, participating lecturers conducted teaching demonstration sessions in real classroom settings, with class observations by the judging panel and fellow lecturers. The participants showcased their classroom management skills and pedagogical approaches through a variety of learning activities. With the educational philosophy of “learner-centered education” as the core focus, many lecturers presented teaching methods that combined traditional approaches with modern models such as flipped classrooms, along with the use of contemporary tools including AI and interactive quiz software to enhance engagement.

Beyond the demonstration lessons, the contest activities continued with the workshop “Sharing Teaching Experiences and Methods,” held on December 15, 2025. The workshop provided an opportunity for participating lecturers to further elaborate on the teaching methods and experiences they had accumulated through practice, fostering a strong spirit of sharing within the Faculty regarding modern university teaching approaches. The workshop created a warm and collegial atmosphere for discussion on innovating teaching methods, meeting the increasingly high demands for improving teaching quality from both the University and society.

In their presentations, lecturers addressed timely and relevant topics in higher education today, such as “The Role of Lecturers in the AI Era” (Dr. Trần Công Đức), “Overuse of AI in Learning – What Are the Solutions?” (PhD candidate Trần Thị Mỹ Phượng), and “Who Will Guide Students When AI Has All the Answers?” (PhD candidate Nguyễn Thị Hồng Hạnh). In addition to the prominent topic of AI, lecturers also shared their perspectives and practical teaching experiences, including “Designing Experiential-Based Teaching Activities” (PhD candidate Vũ Nguyễn Trâm Anh) and “New Strategies and Mindsets for Teaching Generation Z Effectively” (Lecturer Phạm Thị Thanh Hưng).

In addition to the presentations by the lecturer “contestants,” other workshop participants actively raised questions and engaged in lively discussions. A wide range of knowledge, technological applications, and teaching experiences were shared. Several common viewpoints gained strong consensus during the workshop, notably that the role of lecturers today has shifted “from knowledge transmission to the design of learning thinking” (Ms. Trần Thị Thanh Vân). At the same time, one aspect that AI cannot replace is the lecturer’s role in “inspiring students” (M.A. Võ Thế Sinh). Lecturers need to guide students in using digital tools—especially AI—to enhance their thinking capacity, rather than becoming dependent on technology without truly acquiring knowledge (Dr. Phùng Minh Tuấn).

M.A. Bùi Hữu Toàn from the Office of Accreditation and Testing, a key member of the judging panel, highly appreciated the initiative of the Faculty of Business Administration in organizing the teaching demonstration contest, as well as the strong efforts of the participating lecturers.

In the context of continuous integration and innovation, the role of teachers goes beyond knowledge transmission to becoming inspirers who awaken potential and equip students with essential skills for success. The workshop served as a valuable opportunity for lecturers to share effective teaching methods, thereby creating dynamic, meaningful, and highly practical learning experiences in their teaching practice.
