Journal Club in June 2022: “Cultural intelligence and language competence: synergistic effects on avoidance, task performance, and voice behaviors in multicultural teams” presented by MBA. Ho Hoang Dieu and “What makes users willing or hesitant to use Fintech? The moderating effect of user type” presented by MBA. Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh.

On June 11, 2022, The Faculty of Business Administration held a virtual academic meeting with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Minh Ly and the lecturers of the faculty. MBA. Ho Hoang Dieu shared the research on “Cultural intelligence and language competence: synergistic effects on avoidance, task performance, and voice behaviors in multicultural teams”. Besides, MBA. Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh presented an interesting topic about “What makes users willing or hesitant to use Fintech? The moderating effect of user type”.

Based on observations from multicultural teams in 14 different countries, the first study indicates that people with higher cultural intelligence and higher language competence have higher task performance and voice behaviors. This suggests that cultural intelligence and language competence are both necessary for individuals to succeed in multicultural teams. In addition, the results of the second research reveal that legal risk had the most negative effect on the Fintech continuance intention, while convenience had the strongest positive effect. This study provides Fintech managers with valuable insight on the factors they should emphasize or avoid when marketing Fintech to users.

The academic session ended after a lively discussion about the future research with regard to the two fields. The activity was such a valuable opportunity that young lecturers could accumulate specific knowledge and improve their scientific research skills.
