On March 19, 2022, The Faculty of Business Administration held a virtual academic meeting with the participation of Prof. Pham Thi Minh Ly, lecturers, postgraduate students, and graduate students of the Faculty. MSc. Pham Ngoc Bao Duy shared an interesting study on Machine Learning with the title “Opinion Mining and Analysis of Movie Reviews”. The goal of the research is to predict the movie rating based on reviews through the application of Azure Machine Learning.
The data was collected from Rotten Tomatoes by using Jsoup to analyze HTML before the authors applied three different algorithms to come to the conclusion. The final result highlighted that Naive Bayes algorithm is the most optimal way to predict movie ratings. Furthermore, Msc. Pham Ngoc Bao Duy also pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of Azure Machine Learning application, especially for those who are unfamiliar with this method.
The meeting ended after a lively discussion about the application of Machine Learning and future research recommendations. The activity was also an opportunity for young lecturers to accumulate specific knowledge and improve their scientific research skills.
