Joining the spirit of the whole country towards the Central region, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) awarded scholarships with a total value of 825 million VND to students whose families were severely affected by storms and floods and donated more than 400 VND million in cash to support families in need in areas hit by natural disasters.
In the situation of the storms causing severe damage to the central provinces, citizens of the entire country are willing to share with the victims in several realistic ways. At the Opening Ceremony of the new academic year 2020-2021, TDTU awarded 165 scholarships, each worth 5 million VND, to students in the provinces of Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh whose families are severely affected due to the disasters.
Previously, TDTU's Trade Union also asked for donation from lecturers and staff members with the total amount of 145,539,000 VND. This amount was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee so that it will be given to the people of Central Vietnam.
In addition, the University’s Youth Union along with the University's Students Association also deployed the donation program called "TDTU for the beloved Central region" among the Union’s members and students from October 21st to November 4th 2020. After 2 weeks of launching, the Organizing Committee raised a combined amount of 203,937,000 VND in cash along with books, notebooks, clothes, necessities, etc.
TDTU’s Youth Union and Students Association have transferred the amount of 100 million VND to the Central Relief Fund of Ho Chi Minh City Center for Social and Youth Work. The remaining money and items were donated by the Union-Association in collaboration with TDTU Nha Trang campus and directly given to Tan Ninh Kindergarten and Tan Ninh Primary School (Tan Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province). The total fund was more than 300 million VND.
With the tradition of mutual love, all TDTU’s lecturers, staffs, and students are always ready to share in difficult cases. This is not only material support but also the feeling of attachment and sincere sharing of the whole TDTU team for the Central region.
